1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide: name, email, photos, date of birth, city, and profile information. We also collect face verification data for identity confirmation, device information, usage data, and push notification tokens.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: provide and improve our services; connect you with other users; verify your identity and prevent fake profiles; send push notifications; ensure platform safety; process subscription payments.
3. Information Sharing
Your profile information (name, age, city, photos) is visible to other users on the platform. We share data with service providers who help operate Gringo (Cloudinary for images, AWS for face verification, MongoDB, Pusher for messaging, Firebase for notifications). We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption and secure servers. Face verification data is processed securely by AWS Rekognition and is not shared with other users. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
5. Your Rights & Account Deletion
You can update your profile information at any time through the app. To delete your account, go to Profile > Delete Account — this permanently removes your profile, photos, conversations, and messages within 30 days. To request a copy of your data, contact hello@gringodate.com.
6. Location Data
We collect your city during registration to show you relevant profiles. We use your approximate location to determine your city for display purposes. We do not track your real-time GPS location continuously.
7. Face Verification Data
We use AWS Rekognition to verify that profile photos match the person registering. Face data is used solely for identity verification, is not shared with other users or third parties, and is not used for advertising.
8. Push Notifications
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send push notifications for new messages. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings. We only send notifications relevant to your activity on the platform.
9. Data Retention
We retain your data while your account is active. Upon account deletion, your personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
10. Children's Privacy
Gringo is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we discover that a minor has created an account, it will be immediately terminated. For our full child safety policy, visit gringodate.com/child-safety.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or email. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
